Meduse
A knitting project inspired by the mythological Medusa, depicted in Greek mythology.
Medusa was a delightful maid, with a pretty hair and plenty admirers. She has been raped by Poseidon god of seas in Athena’s temple. Athena had punished Medusa for desecrating her temple, and sentenced her to become a hideous monster, with hair made out of snakes, and a lethal glare which transforms anyone who observes into a stone statute.
Eventually, after unimaginably miserable life, redemption had come in the form of death – by the hand of Perseus.
The project concerns with morbid themes as rape, women surety, the power of men and patriarchy.
Knitted in cotton threads, polyester and acrylic fiber using a manual knitting machine.
